I’m taking a break from crafting and selling dog clothes and accessories. My time is spent on my full-time job as a journalist; dog-clothes sales are so low I don’t want to spend time on crafting as a side business. I still enjoy crafting and I’ll never give it up as a hobby though. I’m going to keep this website and possibly write about future projects. They’ll probably involve BABY clothes and accessories now, as my husband and I are expecting our first little one! Thanks to all my past customers, and others who have expressed support.
Adopt Lily!
UPDATE: WE FOUND A FABULOUS HOME FOR LILY AND SHE’S REALLY, REALLY HAPPY THERE!
We’re so sad about this, but we’ve got find somebody to adopt our precious dog, Lily. We love her so much, so we need somebody who is going to be perfect. Here’s more info about her.
Everything Must Go sale!
I’m having a huge sale over at my Phoenix Thread Etsy store! I’m fixing to switch gears and start a new product line, so I’d like to clear the shelves of the cute dog shirts, sweaters and dresses that I’ve made in the past. From now on I’m not keeping dog clothes in stock, but I’ll still create custom orders for people and their pets. This is good news for you because you get to save 60 percent on everything I have in stock! To get the sale, just enter the coupon code ITSASTEAL when you check out on Etsy. Don’t wait too long to take advantage. I’m planning to donate everything that doesn’t sell to the animal shelter by Feb. 29 (it’s a leap year, ya’ll).

To dress your dog for Halloween, or not?
Cesar’s Way has an article about the pros and cons of dressing up your dog for Halloween–Or dressing them at all, for that matter. I think the article raises some valid points that some dogs dislike being dressed up, and owners shouldn’t push the dogs too far. However, I have to say that all dogs are uncomfortable with things they don’t know…Once they become more familiar with dog clothes their discomfort should dissipate.
Another point the article fails to mention is that some dogs, like my Jack Russell Terrier named Binx, get cold naturally and they actually like wearing dog sweaters because it makes them more comfortable. Binx usually gets very excited when he sees me approaching with his favorite sweater.
Havoc the service dog, all decked out
I made this dog shirt for a customer on Etsy. Havoc is a service dog, but he dislikes wearing the standard vest. So his mom mailed me a human t-shirt with a graphic that looks like a flag, but the stars are dog paws instead. In the stripes are the names of service dogs–A memorial. I’m happy to see this photo and to find out the shirt fits!
Thought for a Thursday

Check health ranking of your dog’s food
GoodGuide.com allows you to look up the quality of your dog’s food. I’m psyched about this. As a complete geek, the way I chose the food for my dogs was by reading books that discussed their nutritional needs. I noted the suggested ratio of nutrients (mostly protein, then fat, then carbs) and I walked the isles of the nearest pet store reading the dog-food labels. Finally I settled on the Purina Pro brand. I’m happy to see that GoodGuide ranked 9.9 out of 10. Learn more about GoodGuide here.
